Americans Abroad Update

There are now only 67 days left until the start of the 2010 World Cup in South Africa, and Coach Bob Bradly is keeping a close eye on the US players playing overseas in Europe. The list of players trying to make the US Men's National Team is still up in the air. Some recent player injuries and amazing performances by players on the bubble is not making the decision any easier for Bob Bradley. Here is an updated list of the frontrunners by their respective position:

Goalkeepers:
Tim Howard - played all 90 minutes for Everton FC (EPL) in a 2-2 draw versus West Ham United
Brad Guzan - was on the roster of 18 for Aston Villa (EPL), but did not play.
Brad Friedel -  played all 90 minutes for Aston Villa (EPL) in a 1-0 shutout versus Bolton.

Defenders:
Steve Cherundolo - played for Hannover 96 (Bundesliga) in a 0-0 draw versus Hamburg.
Carlos Bocanegra - played all 90 for Rennes' (French Ligue 1) in 2-1 loss to Lyon.
Jonathan Spector - played all 90 for West Ham's (EPL) in a 2-2 draw versus Everton FC.
Jay DeMerit - not in squad for Watford's (Championship) match versus Preston. Should be back for April 5th game versus WBA.

Midfielders:
Clint Dempsey - started and played all 90 minutes in Fulham's FC (EPL) 2-1 win over Wigan Athletic.
Maurice Edu - started for FC Rangers (Scottish Premier League), scored a goal in 1-0 win over Hamilton
DeMarcus Beasley - on squad for FC Rangers, but did not start, nor play.
Alejandro Bedoya - played the full 90 in Orebro's 2-0 home loss to Mjaellby (Swedish League) 
Michael Bradley - returned to Borussia Moenchengladbach lineup after a broken nose and one-game suspension and played the first 88 minutes in his team’s 2-1 loss at Stuttgart. 
Benny Feilhaber - returned from ankle injury to play for AGF (Danish)

Forwards:
Jozy Altidore - played 26 minutes as a sub for Hull City (EPL) in a 2-0 loss versus Stoke City.
Freddy Adu - next match 4/11 for Aris' FC (GREEK SUPER LEAGUE)
Eddie Johnson - next match 4/11 for Aris' FC (GREEK SUPER LEAGUE)
Kenny Cooper - played 10 minutes as sub for Plymouth Argyle in a 2-1 win over Doncaster Rovers. (Championship)
Charlie Davies -  back in training for Sochaux (French Ligue 1)

Best weekend: Maurice Edu's goal gave FC Rangers the win, and was named player of the match.
